Who are the lead innovators?

Biotechnology is a growing field that requires the support of generous companies and investors to prosper. With the appropriate funding and support from the general public, genetically engineered crops can feed the hungry, aid farmers, and help combat world hunger. It's crucial for us to support local biotechnologies in order to promote growth in the field. Explore this page to gain information about the leading pioneers and their contributions to the biotechnology field.

Monsanto is a sustainable agriculture company. They deliver agricultural products that support farmers all around the world. They are focused on empowering farmers—large and small—to produce more from their land while conserving more of our world's natural resources such as water and energy. They do this with our leading seed brands in crops like corn, cotton, oilseeds and fruits and vegetables. They also produce leading in-the-seed trait technologies for farmers, which are aimed at protecting their yield, supporting their on-farm efficiency and reducing their on-farm costs. They strive to make their products available to farmers throughout the world by broadly licensing their seed and trait technologies to other companies. In addition to their seeds and traits business, they also manufacture Roundup® and other herbicides used by farmers, consumers and lawn-and-garden professionals. Monsanto could not exist without farmers. They are Monsanto's customers--the lifeblood of their company. More important, they are the support system of the world's economy, working day in and day out to feed, clothe and provide energy for our world.

THE GOLDEN RICE

PROJECT

According to UNICEF, the estimated number of children deaths precipitated worldwide by vitamin A deficiency (VAD) every year lies at 1.15 million. Alongside this are the innumerable children suffering from loss of sight or disease susceptibility. Backed by the Rockefeller

Foundation, the Golden Rice Project is based on a need to fortify the world's population through nutrient rich crops and foods.

DuPont Pioneer had been producing, marketing, and selling hybrid seed corn in nearly 70 countries worldwide. The company makes and sells hybrid seed, produced by cross-pollinated plants, and genetically modified seeds, some of which goes onto become genetically modified foods. They also market and sell varieties of other plants such as sorghum, sunflower, soybean, canola, rice, and wheat, as well as forage and grain addictive. Genes engineered into their products help to provide protection against various insects and are herbicide resistant.

Syngenta is a company with an ambition to address one of largest difficulties of our time: how to yield more crops by using fewer resources. They tackle this problem by bringing greater food security in an environmentally sustainable way to a largely populated planet. They are creating a worldwide step-change in farm productivity. They are deploying their world class science to morph HOW the crops are grown and HOW they look beyond the number of crops they get. In order to do this they put the farmer at the center of all they do. Syngenta considers every aspect of a farmer's life in order to cater to his needs. Syngenta’s tremendous amount of advanced technologies, such as Crop Protection and Seeds and Seed Care, will help the farmer accomplish and surpass the challenges of our present times.
